No. 165 Wine & Wensleydale
In the spring of 1998, I took a photographic trip to Great Britain, planning to see as much of the countryside and as little of city life as I could. Being an enormous fan of James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small" books, I just had to visit the places described in those books and the related television series. Many of the scenes in the T.V. series were filmed in the little town of Askrigg. I stopped there and photographed "Skeldale House" and the "Drover's". While ambling happily around town, I came across this shop window. I simply couldn't resist the many photographic opportunities I saw in this window. The famous Wensleydale cheese. The "Wallace & Gromit"(another English film favorite) label and of course, the traditional "wine and cheese" motif. This simple image is one of my favorites.
