No. 186 Whooooo...Me?

I had worked with the Spotted Owl in southwestern Oregon for two years and found

most of them very accommodating. One pair in particular would actually come and find

me making them very easy to work with. For this shot, I waited until the owl perched

on a branch close to the trunk of the tree. Then I walked around the other side of

the tree until I couldn't see the owl. I composed the shot and focused the lens as

best as I could and then made little squeaky noises like a mouse. The owl, thinking there

was a meal to be had, peered around the tree and I started shooting. A few seconds

later, he flew to a branch ten feet form me and I had to start all over again.
