No. 190 Royal Elk

This 7X7 royal bull elk was photographed in Yellowstone National Park. When I first found him

he was in the deep shade you see in the background making photography difficult. While most

of the other photographers that were there left this bull for a smaller one in the sunshine, I stuck with

this guy. About 10 minutes before the sun dipped behind the surrounding mountains, the huge bull

not only came out into the sunlight, but bugled a warning to the smaller bull 100 yards away.
